Not every woman loses her libido entirely during perimenopause, although some may temporarily. For many women the first, though often ignored signs of menopause is a change in the length of menstrual cycles. Some confusion exists because there are several stages of the natural menopause process. Medical conditions, genetic disorders, surgery or medical treatments are all things that may lead to or cause early menopause.
Perimenopause actually is the time you have the notable symptoms of menopause (such as hot flashes, and when a woman might say “I’m menopausal.”). The symptoms of menopause that accompany this process are physiological changes that happen to every woman in varying degrees. Some women sail through the transition, while others face multiple physical and psychological symptoms.
