Flat rash in systemic lupus

Over half of the people with SLE develop a characteristic red, flat facial rash over the bridge of their nose. Avoiding sunlight is the primary change to the lifestyle of systemic lupus sufferers, as sunlight is known to exacerbate the disease, as is the debilitating effect of intense fatigue. Signs and symptoms of lupus may vary over time and overlap with those of many other disorders. Lupus skin disease is also referred to as cutaneous lupus.
For some patients whose kidneys or central nervous systems are affected by lupus, a type of drug called an immunosuppressive may be used. Certain cases of lupus have become permanently inactive, or in total remission. Lupus typically develops in people in their 20s and 30s, and 10 times more often in women than in men.
